Adagio is translated from Italian to mean "a relaxed place
with graceful or continuous movement." Adagio does offer such a place in a
comfortable setting that not only features music and dancing, but also serves as an
Italian-American cuisine restaurant. |
Adagios restaurant is available exclusively for dinner. The
kitchen hours are: Monday-Tuesday 5:30-10:00 p.m., Wednesday-Thursday 5:30-11:00 p.m.,
Friday-Saturday 5:30-11:30 p.m., and is closed on Sundays (along with the rest of the
club.) The food at Adagio is prepared well but the menu is a bit limited in choice. Prices
at Adagio are reasonable, with Appetizers around $4-$7, Pasta at $9-$15, Entrees ranging
from $12-$24, and Desserts at $4. |

The differentiating
feature that brings people to Adagio, is that you can dine and then dance the night away
without having to go anywhere else. The music (usually live) at Adagio starts at about
10:30pm and the bar is open until 1:30 a.m. Thursday through Saturday. The sounds usually
consist of smooth jazz and R&B, but the music is not limited to these formats. The
Bandoleros were playing on the Saturday I went to Adagio. Bandoleros play "Gypsy
King" style music and they play extensive sets that have patrons dancing or at least
clapping and singing along from their dinner tables. The music stage is located in front
of the tables so you can eat and still enjoy listening and watching live music. |

| The second floor of Adagio features a
Library/Bar-Cigar Lounge were you can hang out, read a book, have a drink, or smoke a
cigar. There is also a romantic outdoor garden that is not always open, and there is also
something called the Musketeer Room for "intimate dining."
Adagio is a great place to
go if you are in the mood for Italian and feel like dancing without having to go to
another location. Adagio is located near Crobar, North Beach, Crazy Horse, and Joes,
so if you want to go somewhere else the rest of the night, you are not far away. The dress
code is casual, although there were some people there wearing suits. Reservations are
recommended but limited and expect to pay a cover charge on live music nights in addition
to your food bill. There is also valet parking available for $6. American Express, Diners
Club, Mastercard, and Visa are accepted. |
