Slow
Down Life's Too Short!

Review by Maggie Anderson
Now that summer is here, I'd like to review my favorite summer place... Slow Down: Life's Too Short. I attended the grand opening of Slow Down
last summer and instantly fell in love. For those of you who enjoy boating during the summer season, you'll find it convenient that you can
dock your boat at the bar.
As soon as I entered the establishment, I was immediately drawn to the
buffet which consisted of flavorful Cajun foods - mostly seafood. I
felt like I was in New Orleans, Louisiana, as I feasted on my catfish chips. There's plenty of space for dining. You have the option of dining indoors or outdoors -- on the upper level or the lower level.
Usually wearing a loud shirt, the one-man band (who plays on the lower
indoor level) is a strong attraction. He plays the harmonica and the
guitar, and can easily replicate the voice of any pop star. Although he tends to cover trendy bands like Third Eye Blind and The Gin Blossoms, he also knows how to read his crowd, which is important in his business.
The best seat in the house, in my opinion, is the upper deck. On a sun
bursting day, the Chicago River sparkles and the boats wait calmly for
their owners to return. Meanwhile, the owners are sitting on the deck,
sipping tropical drinks and feeling like they're in the Caribbean somewhere. The bars are straw and bamboo, and the bartenders are talented. They juggle fancy glasses and do various other tricks to earn their tips.
Another form of entertainment would be Slow Down's mascot who strolls
Around the place wearing a straw hat and rolled up pants. He speaks slowly and reminds everyone he passes to slow down and enjoy every moment. Slow Down: Life's Too Short is not just the name of the bar and restaurant. It's a motto that's so meaningful in a bustling, stressed out city like ours.
So, now that the days are getting warmer, take a trip to Slow Down.
Whether you go for the dinner, the drinks or the ambiance, it's well worth your while.
